Heroin Diaries: Pg. 360-413

Throughout Heroin Diaries Nikki's addiction is slowly killing him. As readers we see something bad coming because of his drug use. Nikki is still trying to overcome his past, but is reluctant to talk, or express his emotion about his childhood. Only in his journal due we see what Nikki needs "I'm done, I'm fried  and I don't care. My heart is broken from my childhood. I'm worn to the bone from being driven like a slave and I've lost my will to do anything but fade...please..."(Page 375). His pain and suffering were only healed unfortunately with him basically dying. Once Nikki came to his reality his realization of these drugs are going to kill me came later. Finally, what we all wanted for the sake of Nikki's health is for him to confront his demons. He committed to his sobriety and admitted to his mistakes along the way which was a big step for him. Most importantly he rediscovered his passion and love for his music. When Nikki was strung out his commitment to music and life was lacking, his sobriety brought him peace, and happiness. After finding out Nikki's life after this book proved to me that people can change their path for the better. Nikki is a family man committed to being a dad unlike his own father. It's amazing to me that Nikki new what he wanted for the future in his journal and was able to make it happen. Reading this book was an experience to know why people might use, or what leads them to drugs. Furthermore, I hope this book can help people as it has enlightened me.

  1. What I really enjoyed about this book was Nikki Sixx's rise and his fall just to rise again. At the start Nikki was just getting popular with the band and that's when the drugs came in. He was messed up in the head about his childhood and he had questions that he couldn't get answers to so he turned to drugs for comfort. He died twice from going so hard on the drugs but the first time nothing registered to him even though he woke up in a dumpster after getting beaten with a baseball bat. But when he did finally come to his senses he was more successful then ever. From music to family life Nikki Sixx finally got his shit together.

  2. I'm really glad that Nikki finally got clean in the end! I remember throughout the book I would get anxious or nauseous. Drugs are a scary thing to me; they cause a lot of harm and care really tear someone apart, as we just read. They also have a really strong affect on relationships, mostly in a negative way. If there is one thing that this book taught me it's that DRUGS = TROUBLE. I truly believe that this book will be able to help a lot of people. I really hope that Nikki's two divorces won't have a large affect on his relationships with his kids. He couldn't stand his own parents because they were never there for him, so I hope that he learned from that and is there for his kids now.
